Dr. Imani Woody Macko
Dr. Woody Macko is an internationally recognized advocate for women, people of color, and LGBTQ+/SGL individuals, with over 25 years of experience. She has addressed the challenges faced by LGBTQ+/SGL elders, particularly those of color, on national and international platforms. As a panelist at the White House Summit on LGBT elder housing development and in discussions with Vice President Harris, Dr. Woody Macko has been instrumental in shaping policies that impact LGBTQ+/SGL elders. Retiring from AARP, she now leads Mary’s House for Older Adults (MHFOA), pioneering alternative housing and supportive environments for LGBTQ+/SGL elders facing housing insecurity and social isolation. Dr. Woody Macko’s remarkable contributions have earned her numerous honors, including the prestigious 2023 AARP Purpose Prize.
